Here are some references that provide more standard arguments, as well as addressing many points that I don&#8217;t mention:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/library.dts.edu\/Pages\/TL\/Special\/ICBI_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy<\/a>: A helpful clarification of what inerrancy affirms and what it does not.<\/li>\n<li>All of the standard evangelical systematic theologies have presentations on the authority of Scripture. Michael Horton, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtsbooks.com\/christian-faith-michael-horton-9780310286042\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Christian Faith: A Systematic Theology for Pilgrims on the Way,<\/em><\/a> does the best job of integrating his discussion of biblical authority with the history of modern thought.<\/li>\n<li>John Frame&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtsbooks.com\/the-doctrine-of-the-word-of-god-john-frame-9780875522647\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Doctrine of the Word of God <\/em><\/a>is a well-received, book-long presentation of these and related issues.<\/li>\n<li>Timothy Ward&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtsbooks.com\/words-of-life-timothy-ward-9780830827442\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Words of Life: Scripture as the Living and Active Word of God <\/em><\/a>is another non-standard presentation, but interesting and helpful.<\/li>\n<li><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtsbooks.com\/do-historical-matters-matter-to-faith-james-hoffmeier-dennis-magary-9781433525711\" target=\"_blank\">Do Historical Matters Matter to Faith: A Critical Appraisal of Modern and Post-Modern Approaches to Scripture<\/a>, <\/em>edited by James Hoffmeier and Dennis Magary, is a recent response to many issues raised by critics &#8211; particularly by those who want to call themselves evangelical but abandon inerrancy.<\/li>\n<li>Michael Kruger&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtsbooks.com\/canon-revisited-michael-kruger-9781433505003\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Canon Revisited: Establishing the Authority and Origins of the New Testament Books <\/em><\/a>addresses the recognition by the early church of biblical authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(For printing these references together with part 3, download <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eqotw.org\/dgcc\/authorityofscripture3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">this pdf file<\/a>.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The argument presented for the authority of Scripture in the three previous posts is non-standard and idiosyncratic.
