Ten thousand talents once I owed,

Yet since the Lord forgave my sin,
\nand blotted out my score,
\nMuch more indebted I have been,
\nthan e’er I was before.<\/p>\n
My guilt is canceled quite I know,
\nand satisfaction made;
\nBut the vast debt of love I owe
\ncan never be repaid.<\/p>\n
The love I owe for sin forgiven,
\nfor power to believe,
\nFor present peace and promised heaven,
\nno angel can conceive.<\/p>\n
That love of Thine, Thou sinner’s Friend!
\nWitness Thy bleeding heart!
\nMy little all can ne’er extend
\nto pay a thousandth part.<\/p>\n
Nay more, the poor returns I make
\nI first from Thee obtain;
\nAnd ’tis of grace that Thou wilt take
\nsuch poor returns again.<\/p>\n
