Missions

Missions is at the heart of God. God’s greatest passion is that His Name might be praised throughout the world. Missions exists because worship doesn’t.

At Desiring God Community Church, the cause of missions is highlighted in our mission statement:

We exist to spread a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples.

God is bringing together those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and forming them into His perfect bride, the church. He gives us the great privilege of being His ambassadors, the ones through whom He proclaims the great message of salvation and joy in Him.

We will give at least 20 percent of all local offerings to missions.

Missions Offering God has given us the wonderful privilege of being involved in His Great Commission in a number of places around the world. You have been obedient to Him in giving to missions at DGCC. Praise Him that our missions offering in June exceeded our $9000 goal. The goal of our second 2008 missions offering is once again $9000. While we have a target of December 14, you can give to the missions offering at any time before or after that date. Make out your check to DGCC and attach a note saying “missions offering.” One hundred percent of those amounts will go to cross cultural missions. Perspectives on the World Christian Movement: DGCC is a sponsoring church for this life-transforming missions course that will be offered January 11 to May 4 on Monday nights at Living Faith Baptist Church and on Tuesday nights in Rock Hill. The course can be taken for graduate or undergraduate credit, as well as for enrichment. If finances are a problem, some funds are available from DGCC to help. Overarching everything: The glory of God

We value putting God at the center of all that we do. We put His glory and His honor first, asking in every decision, "Will this bring the greatest glory and praise to our God?"

Permeating everything: God's Word

We value being saturated with the Scriptures, which are God’s reliable, authoritative, and sufficient revelation. We value a growing love for the Word, as well as a deepening understanding of it, in each person within the church, whether old or young.

Supporting everything: Prayers of God's people

We value prayer as our amazing privilege of speaking with the King of the Universe, expressing and developing our intimate family relationship with Him. We value prayer as the source of power and the visible engine for all our efforts.

Motivating everything: Joy in Christ

The pursuit of joy in God is not wrong; indeed, it is God's command. For God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. "In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore." Psalm 16:11.
